NICKEL ALLOYS · PRODUCT-FORM CONTROLLED SOURCING
Nickel-Alloy Plate, Bar and Forgings — Technical Sourcing
Plate, sheet, strip, rod, bar, forgings and forging stock sourced by exact UNS grade, product standard, condition, dimensions and inspection documents.
MNK-G.S.A develops supply routes for corrosive-service and high-temperature nickel alloys across Europe and Asia. Every inquiry is checked as one complete grade-and-form combination; a standard for tube does not prove compliance for plate, bar or forgings.
Why the Product Form Matters
- The same alloy family can have different governing specifications for plate, rod, bar and forgings.
- UNS designation, heat-treatment condition, product form and edition of the standard are retained together.
- Trade names are used only as helpful identifiers; the formal grade and certificate control the order.
- Dimensions, tolerances, surface, testing and traceability are confirmed before quotation.
Core Grade Families
| Family | Representative grades | Quotation control |
|---|---|---|
| Nickel-chromium-molybdenum | Alloy 625 / UNS N06625 | Plate and bar conditions are not interchangeable; ASTM B443 and B446 define separate routes |
| Precipitation-hardening nickel alloys | Alloy 718 / UNS N07718 and other grades within the governing specification | Heat treatment, product form and testing must match ASTM B637 or the customer specification |
| Corrosion-resistant Ni-Cr-Mo alloys | UNS N10276, N06022 and other grades expressly covered by ASTM B575, B574 or B564 | Confirm whether the inquiry is flat product, rod/bar or forging |
| Nickel-copper alloys | Alloy 400 / UNS N04400; N04405 where applicable | ASTM B127 governs rolled flat product; ASTM B164 governs rod, bar and wire |
| Other nickel and high-temperature alloys | Alloy 600, 800/800H/800HT, 825, Waspaloy and customer-defined grades | Only after exact UNS designation, form standard and heat-treatment condition are verified |
Equivalence note: commercial names, UNS numbers and European designations may appear together in manufacturer literature, but MNK-G.S.A does not treat them as universal substitutes. The customer’s governing specification and approved mill documentation take precedence.
Supply Forms
Plate, Sheet & Strip
Mill plate, sheet, strip, cut pieces and blanks by thickness, width, length, finish, edge condition, flatness and condition. Cut-to-size or machined supply can be evaluated when the mill product remains traceable.
Rod & Bar
Hot-worked or cold-worked round, hexagonal, square and flat bar, plus machining blanks. Diameter or section, length, straightness, surface, condition and inspection route are stated in the RFQ.
Forgings & Parts
Open-die or closed-die forgings, rings, discs, blocks, hubs, nozzles and near-net parts. Drawing, forging route, heat treatment, testing, machining allowance and final dimensions must be reviewed together.
Standards by Product Form
| Standard | Relevant scope | Use on the inquiry |
|---|---|---|
| ASTM B443-26 | UNS N06625 and N06219 plate, sheet and strip | State the exact UNS grade and required condition |
| ASTM B446-26 | UNS N06625, N06219 and N06650 rod and bar | State product condition and dimensions |
| ASTM B575-17(2023) | Flat products in listed low-carbon Ni-Cr-Mo alloy families | Use only for grades expressly covered by the current table |
| ASTM B574-17(2023) | Rod in listed low-carbon Ni-Cr-Mo alloy families | Do not extend rod compliance to plate or forgings |
| ASTM B127-25 / B164-26 | UNS N04400 flat product / rod, bar and wire | Select the standard by the actual form |
| ASTM B564-25 | Nickel-alloy forgings across the listed UNS grades | Confirm grade, heat treatment and required tests |
| ASTM B637-26 | Precipitation-hardening and cold-worked nickel-alloy bars and forgings | Used for applicable high-temperature grade-and-condition combinations |
| ISO 9725:2017 | Nickel and nickel-alloy forgings for general purposes | Current ISO forging route; edition checked at quotation |
Current-edition control: ISO 6208:1992, ISO 9722:1992 and ISO 9723:1992 are withdrawn and are not presented here as current procurement standards.
Application Context
Typical inquiry contexts include chemical and process equipment, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, high-temperature components, marine and offshore equipment, energy projects and engineered parts exposed to corrosive media. Suitability is application-specific and is never inferred from the alloy name alone.
