ASTM B564-25 — Nickel Alloy Forgings

Procurement reference for nickel and nickel-alloy forgings selected by the exact UNS grade, condition, geometry and inspection route.

Edition control: ASTM B564-25 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM catalogue checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and purchase-order requirements before use.

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B564 covers forgings in the nickel and nickel-alloy UNS families expressly listed by the specification. Grade-specific condition, heat treatment, mechanical testing and examination requirements control the order.

RFQ and Product Controls

  • Exact UNS designation and ASTM B564-25 edition
  • Forging type, drawing, dimensions, machining allowance and weight
  • Required grade or condition and heat-treatment route
  • Chemical analysis, mechanical properties and grain-size requirements
  • Nondestructive examination and acceptance route required by the order
  • Inspection-document type, supplementary tests and purchaser witness points
  • Heat and lot traceability through machining, marking, packaging and release

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through the delivered form, any machining or further processing, inspection documentation and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B564 certification of a forging does not by itself approve a finished flange, valve part or pressure component. Final geometry, machining, design code, examinations and component documentation remain separate requirements.
