DIN Standards for Industrial Materials

A procurement-focused index for German national standards, adopted EN and ISO documents, inspection records and metallic-material test routes.

How DIN Designations Work

DIN publishes national standards and German national adoptions of European or international standards. The prefix identifies the publication route; it does not by itself establish material-grade, product or certificate equivalence.

DesignationProcurement meaning
DINA standard developed at German national level.
DIN ENA European EN standard adopted unchanged as a German national standard.
DIN EN ISOAn ISO standard adopted at European level and then unchanged at German national level.
DIN ISOAn ISO standard adopted unchanged directly as a German national standard.

Official explanation: DIN standards deliverables and designation structure.

The material or product standard defines which test route, specimen, test condition and acceptance criteria apply. Browse the ISO Standards Library for further international references.

Ordering and Equivalence Controls

  • State the full standard designation, edition or publication date and product form.
  • Identify the material grade separately; a standard number is not a grade designation.
  • Define dimensions, tolerances, surface condition, heat treatment and delivery condition.
  • State the inspection-document type, test route, acceptance criteria and traceability requirements.
  • Verify any claimed ASTM, EN, DIN, ISO, ГОСТ or ТУ correspondence against manufacturer data, certificates and the governing specification.

Copyright and Access Policy

DIN, EN and ISO standards are protected publications. MNK-G.S.A provides original procurement summaries, navigation and links to official records. Protected clauses, tables, figures, tolerances and acceptance values are not reproduced. Obtain the authorised document from DIN Media or another authorised standards provider before contractual or engineering use.
