ISO 9725:2017 — Nickel and Nickel-Alloy Forgings
Procurement reference for nickel and nickel-alloy forgings for general purposes under the current ISO route.
Edition control: ISO 9725:2017, Edition 2, was last reviewed and confirmed in 2022 and remains current in the official ISO catalogue checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and purchase-order requirements before use.
Scope in Procurement
ISO 9725 specifies requirements for nickel and nickel-alloy forgings for general purposes. The purchase order must convert the broad scope into an exact alloy, condition, product geometry and inspection route.
RFQ and Product Controls
- Exact material designation and ISO 9725:2017 edition
- Forging type, drawing, dimensions, machining allowance and weight
- Manufacturing condition and heat-treatment requirements
- Chemical and mechanical requirements for the ordered alloy route
- Surface quality, dimensional control and required examinations
- Inspection-document type, supplementary requirements and purchaser witness points
- Heat and lot traceability through machining, marking, packaging and release
The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through the delivered form, any machining or further processing, inspection documentation and final release.
Scope Boundary
ISO 9725 and ASTM B564 are separate standards systems and are not automatic equivalents. Cross-standard substitution requires a documented comparison of grade, condition, testing, dimensions and project requirements.
