Replacement and Reverse-Engineering Controls

  • Record the original equipment and part reference without claiming authorised OEM status.
  • Identify which sample dimensions are nominal, worn, damaged or functionally critical.
  • Confirm the required material through documents, testing or an approved engineering decision.
  • Separate prototype validation from approval for repeat production.
  • Define fit, alignment, retention, joining and functional checks before manufacturing.
  • Use third-party inspection when required by the customer or risk profile.

A physical sample is evidence, not a complete specification. Service history, mating interfaces, material requirements and acceptance criteria must be reconstructed and approved.
