ASTM B164-26 — Nickel-Copper Alloy Rod, Bar and Wire

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B164 covers specified hot- and cold-worked rod and bar in UNS N04400 and N04405, together with cold-worked wire in defined conditions. Form and condition must be stated explicitly.

RFQ and Product Controls

• Exact UNS designation and ASTM B164-26 edition
• Rod, bar or wire form; hot-worked or cold-worked route as applicable
• Cross-section, diameter or size, length, straightness and dimensional tolerances
• Material condition, surface finish and machining allowance
• Chemical, tensile, hardness and wire-test requirements applicable to the order
• Inspection-document type, supplementary tests and purchaser witness points
• Heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination requirements

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through the delivered form, any machining or further processing, inspection documentation and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B164 does not cover flat products, pipe, tube, forgings or finished fasteners. N04400 and N04405 must not be treated as automatic substitutes; the exact UNS designation and product condition govern.
