HIGH-TEMPERATURE MOLYBDENUM ALLOY
TZC Molybdenum Alloy
Manufacturer-controlled sourcing for TZC bar, plate and parts to drawing.
MNK-G.S.A sources TZC only after the proposed manufacturer composition, production route, product form, dimensions, condition, inspection documents and application requirements have been reviewed.
TZC Is Not Automatically Interchangeable with TZM
TZC is a titanium–zirconium–carbon strengthened molybdenum-alloy family intended for demanding high-temperature service. Published compositions vary by source, so the abbreviation alone does not define one universal chemistry or standard. Manufacturer documentation and the customer’s governing requirement control acceptance.
Material Definition and Supply Scope
Manufacturer-Declared TZC
One specialist manufacturer publishes a nominal family of Mo with 1.2–1.5% Ti, 0.1–0.2% Zr and 0.1–0.2% C. This is a source declaration, not a universal equivalence rule.
Bar and Rod
Long products sourced by exact manufacturer grade, diameter, length, condition, surface and requirements for machining or thermal processing.
Plate and Sheet
Flat products sourced by composition, thickness, width, length, rolling condition, surface and inspection requirements.
Forging and Die Blanks
Billets and blanks for high-temperature tooling require review of processing route, grain structure, heat treatment, geometry and expected load case.
Machined Components
Finished parts require an approved drawing, starting stock, tolerances, surface finish, inspection and traceability plan.
Alternative Mo Alloys
TZM, MoLa, MHC and other molybdenum alloys are separate material routes. Substitution requires documented technical approval.
Typical Global Sourcing Range
The ranges below represent typical global sourcing and manufacturing capability across specialist sources. They are not MNK stock and do not describe one universal factory envelope.
| Product Form | Typical Global Sourcing Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wire | Custom dimensions | Subject to exact composition, specification and source capability. |
| Rod / Bar | Custom dimensions | Diameter, length, condition and tolerance are confirmed for the selected manufacturer grade. |
| Sheet / Plate | Custom dimensions | Thickness, width, length and rolling condition require individual confirmation. |
| Forgings / Die Blanks | According to specification | Tooling, weight and processing limits are source-specific. |
| Finished Parts | According to drawing | Manufacturing feasibility is confirmed before quotation. |
No unified public TZC min/max envelope is claimed. TZC is not automatically interchangeable with TZM.
Actual availability depends on grade, specification, quantity, tolerances, certification requirements and manufacturing source. Diameter, thickness, width and length must be confirmed as one complete combination.
Standards and Documentation
Manufacturer Datasheet
TZC identity is controlled by the selected manufacturer composition, processing route, condition and certified test requirements.
Composition Variability
Published TZC chemistry is not fully uniform across sources. No universal Ti, Zr or C content is assigned without a governing specification.
No Automatic TZM Equivalence
TZC is not declared equivalent to ASTM TZM grades. Any comparison must address chemistry, route, form, condition and properties.
ASTM Scope Review
ASTM B386/B386M and B387/B387M cover defined molybdenum grades and product forms; they are not applied to TZC unless the requested edition and grade explicitly support it.
EN 10204:2004
Inspection-document type may be requested together with agreed chemistry, mechanical or physical properties, dimensions and traceability.
Customer Specification
For critical tooling or high-temperature service, the customer drawing, acceptance criteria, test plan and approved manufacturer datasheet govern supply.
Application Context
High-Temperature Tooling
Die and tooling blanks for thermally demanding metal-processing operations, subject to grade and load-case validation.
Thermal Processing Components
Parts used in high-temperature equipment where strength, creep behaviour, atmosphere and thermal cycling must be assessed together.
Custom Engineered Parts
Machined components produced from approved TZC stock under drawing, inspection and traceability controls.
Capability Note
Published dimensional ranges describe demonstrated manufacturing capability across specialist sources, not guaranteed stock and not one universal mill envelope. Diameter, thickness, width, length, condition, tolerance and quantity must be confirmed as one complete combination for each inquiry.
