CLASSIFICATION- & WPS-CONTROLLED MARINE FILLER METALS

Marine Welding Consumables

Specialist sourcing of aluminium, stainless, duplex, copper-nickel, nickel-alloy and titanium filler metals.

MNK-G.S.A coordinates marine welding-consumable supply by exact AWS or EN ISO classification, process, diameter, package, batch certificate, approval, base material, WPS, quantity and delivery destination.

Filler Metal Selection Must Follow the Approved Welding Procedure

A commercial alloy name or a general word such as marine is not enough to select a consumable. Base-metal grade and temper, joint design, welding process, service conditions, heat input, shielding, mechanical and corrosion requirements, WPS/PQR, class and OEM approval must be reviewed before quotation.

Material Definition and Supply Scope

Marine Aluminium Fillers

ER5183, ER5356, ER5087 and ER5556A wire or rod families for approved aluminium fabrication and repair. They are not automatically interchangeable for 5083 or 5086 structures.

Austenitic Stainless Fillers

ER316LSi / ER316L and other stainless classifications for the exact base material, process and service. 316-family filler is not a universal answer for immersed seawater duty.

Duplex and Super Duplex

ER2209 for approved duplex applications and ER2594 for approved super-duplex applications, with WPS heat-input, interpass, shielding and phase-balance controls.

Copper–Nickel Fillers

ERCuNi-type filler for specified CuNi 90/10 and 70/30 systems, selected by exact classification, product certificate, joining procedure and system requirements.

Nickel-Alloy Fillers

ERNiCrMo-3 and other nickel-alloy classifications for Alloy 625, corrosion-resistant or approved dissimilar joints. Selection depends on both base materials and service.

Titanium Fillers

ERTi-2 and other titanium classifications supplied with strict chemistry, cleanliness, packaging and traceability controls for the approved base grade and inert-gas procedure.

Typical Global Manufacturing Capability

Aluminium MIG Wire

One certified ER5183 programme publishes 0.8, 1.0, 1.2, 1.6 and 2.4 mm wire, with order examples from small 2 kg units through 7–9 kg spools and larger drums. Diameter and package availability are product-specific.

Aluminium TIG Rod

ER5183, ER5356, ER5087 and ER5556A rods are sourced by exact rod diameter, straight length, pack mass and surface condition. The rod classification may differ in prefix from the corresponding wire classification.

Duplex MIG Wire

A published ER2209 GMAW programme lists 0.8–1.6 mm diameters with selected 1, 5 and 15 kg packages and bulk packs up to 250 kg. These are manufacturer examples, not one universal stock matrix.

Duplex TIG Rod

Published ER2209 ordering examples include 1.6, 2.4 and 3.2 mm rods at approximately 914 mm length. A published ER2594 programme includes selected 1.6 and 3.2 mm × 914 mm rods.

Other Alloy Families

ERCuNi, ERNiCrMo-3, ERTi-2 and related wire or rod are quoted by exact process, classification, diameter, straight length or spool type, package mass and required batch documentation.

Batch and Approval Dependence

A listed diameter does not prove that the same factory, batch, package and class approval are available together. The exact manufacturing location and certificate scope are checked before order.

Standards and Documentation

AWS A5.10/A5.10M:2023 / ISO 18273:2015

Current classification standards for bare aluminium and aluminium-alloy electrodes, wires and rods. The AWS and ISO designations are stated exactly as certified by the product manufacturer.

AWS A5.9/A5.9M:2022 / ISO 14343:2025

Classification standards for bare stainless and heat-resisting steel wire electrodes, wires and rods. ISO 14343:2025 supersedes the withdrawn 2017 edition.

AWS A5.7/A5.7M:2026

Current specification for copper and copper-alloy bare welding rods and electrodes, including classifications used for copper–nickel filler products.

AWS A5.14/A5.14M:2026

Current specification for nickel and nickel-alloy bare welding electrodes and rods, including ERNiCrMo families within its defined composition requirements.

AWS A5.16/A5.16M:2023

Current specification for titanium and titanium-alloy welding electrodes and rods, incorporating classification routes aligned with ISO 24034.

WPS, Class and Manufacturer Approval

Classification does not replace the WPS/PQR, welder qualification, shielding and handling procedure, class approval, OEM instruction or batch certificate required by the repair or project.

Application Context

Ship and Yacht Repair

Urgent small-lot filler supply for hull, deck, piping, exhaust, heat-exchanger and equipment repairs after base material and procedure verification.

New Marine Fabrication

Consumable packages coordinated with plate, pipe, fittings and profiles for approved aluminium, stainless, duplex, CuNi, nickel-alloy and titanium fabrication.

Seawater and Process Systems

Specialist filler metals for condensers, cooling systems, desalination, pumps, valves and corrosion-resistant piping where the project specification defines the alloy and WPS.

Capability Note

Published dimensional ranges describe demonstrated manufacturing capability across specialist sources, not guaranteed stock and not one universal mill envelope. Diameter, thickness, width, length, condition, tolerance and quantity must be confirmed as one complete combination for each inquiry.

Detailed Aluminium Filler Pages

Select the classification requested by the drawing, WPS or engineering specification. Final filler selection remains subject to base material, process, service and approval requirements.

Specialist Stainless, Duplex and Non-Ferrous Filler Pages

Review exact AWS and ISO classification context, manufacturer-specific application guidance and the information required for a controlled quotation.
