ERCuNi Copper-Nickel Welding Consumables
Technical sourcing of ERCuNi copper-nickel solid wire and rods by classification, process, diameter, package and documentation requirements.
MNK-G.S.A coordinates copper-nickel welding consumables for shipboard, seawater-system, repair and industrial fabrication inquiries, subject to the approved welding procedure and project specification.
Classification Identity
- AWS A5.7/A5.7M:2026 is the current AWS classification framework for copper and copper-alloy bare welding rods and electrodes.
- A current manufacturer catalogue maps AWS A5.7 ER CuNi to ISO 24373 S Cu 7158 (CuNi30Mn1FeTi) for a specific solid-wire product.
- ISO 24373:2018 is the published and confirmed current international classification standard for copper-alloy solid wires and rods.
- The verified manufacturer mapping must not be treated as proof that all ERCuNi products have identical chemistry, approvals, form or availability.
Standards and Supply Definition
| AWS classification | AWS A5.7/A5.7M:2026 — ER CuNi |
| International classification | ISO 24373:2018 — S Cu 7158 (CuNi30Mn1FeTi), verified for a referenced manufacturer product |
| Supply definition | Solid GMAW/MIG wire or GTAW/TIG rod, where produced and certified |
| Marine context | Copper-nickel piping, plate, repair or overlay inquiries only after base material and WPS review |
| Ordering controls | Classification, process, diameter, package, batch, approvals, certificate, quantity and destination |
Application Context
Copper Development Association guidance describes nominal 70/30 copper-nickel filler as widely used for welding 90/10 and 70/30 copper-nickel alloys. This remains technical guidance rather than automatic approval. Dissimilar joints, steel dilution, wet service, cleaning, joint design and the approved WPS require separate review.
RFQ and Quality Controls
- Exact copper-nickel base-alloy designation and product form
- Joint type, thickness, welding process and WPS/PQR
- Wire or rod diameter, package and manufacturing source
- Cleaning, shielding and project/class requirements
- Batch certificate, traceability, quantity and destination

The classification mapping is manufacturer-specific. Marine application guidance is contextual and does not replace the approved WPS, class rules or customer specification.
Relevant ISO Reference
Use the current authorised ISO publication together with the governing specification, manufacturer documentation and project requirements. A reference link alone does not establish grade equivalence, product compliance or application approval.
