TITANIUM-STABILIZED STAINLESS · EXACT-GRADE TECHNICAL SOURCING

Stabilized Austenitic Stainless Steels — 321, 321H & 316Ti

Technical sourcing of 321, 321H and 316Ti products by exact UNS or EN grade, form, condition, temperature regime and inspection requirements.

MNK-G.S.A coordinates stabilized austenitic stainless inquiries for flat products, bars, wire, tube, pipe, forgings, components and parts to drawing while keeping each grade and product standard separate.

Grade Identity and Verification

  • 321 / UNS S32100 / EN 1.4541 is a titanium-stabilized chromium-nickel austenitic grade used where resistance to intergranular corrosion after fabrication and extended-temperature service are relevant.
  • 321H / UNS S32109 and the EN 1.4878 high-temperature route are intended for temperature regimes where creep-related requirements can become important; the H designation must be stated explicitly.
  • 316Ti / UNS S31635 / EN 1.4571 adds molybdenum to the stabilized austenitic family and has a different corrosion and service profile from 321 or 321H.
  • 321, 321H and 316Ti are not universal equivalents. Their chemistry, carbon control, product standards, mechanical properties and acceptance routes differ.
  • The project specification, design temperature, process medium, fabrication history and certificate determine which grade can be offered.

Product Forms, Standards and Supply Formats

321 / S32100 / 1.4541Cold- or hot-rolled coil, sheet, strip, plate, bar, tube, pipe, forgings and components only where the selected product standard includes the exact grade
321H / S32109 / 1.4878 routeHigh-temperature plate, bar, tube, pipe, forgings and components with explicit carbon-controlled designation and creep or code requirements
316Ti / S31635 / 1.4571Molybdenum-alloyed stabilized flat, long, tubular and forged products for corrosion and elevated-temperature requirements defined by the project
Flat-product routeASTM A240/A480 or EN 10088-2; manufacturer programmes list cold-rolled coil and sheet, hot-rolled coil and sheet or plate, quarto plate and selected precision strip
Long, tube and forging routesASTM A276/A479, A213/A269/A312, A182/A965 or EN 10088-3, EN 10216-5, EN 10217-7 and EN 10222-5 as applicable to the grade and product
Supply formatMill sheet or plate, coil, cut blank, bar in mill or cut length, tube or pipe in straight or cut lengths, forging, flange, fitting, valve part or component to drawing

Application Context

Potential applications include welded pressure vessels, flanges and valves, exhaust and flue-gas components, stack liners, furnace and case-hardening equipment, refinery and boiler parts and selected chemical or process equipment. The exact choice depends on the corrosive medium, temperature, creep and fatigue loading, weld exposure, section thickness and design code. Stabilization alone does not prove suitability.

RFQ and Quality Controls

  • Exact 321, 321H or 316Ti designation in UNS, ASTM, EN or customer notation
  • Product standard and form: flat, long, tube, pipe, forging or manufactured component
  • Dimensions, tolerances, finish, condition and required cut or fabrication scope
  • Continuous and peak temperature, process medium, thermal cycling and design life
  • Mechanical, creep, corrosion, NDT, pressure-code and welding requirements
  • EN 10204 certificate route, heat traceability, quantity, packing and destination

Technical Sources

The page groups titanium-stabilized austenitic grades for procurement convenience while preserving their separate identities. MNK verifies the exact grade and product standard; 321, 321H and 316Ti are never presented as automatic substitutes.

Related ASTM Reference Pages

Select the governing specification by product form and service route. The standard designation does not by itself confirm that a particular grade, condition or project requirement is included.

Relevant EN Product-Form References

These references support order preparation by product form. The current authorised standard, material grade, edition, design code and project documents must be verified before quotation.

Relevant ISO References

Use the current authorised edition together with the governing product specification, project requirements and inspection documents. A standards reference does not establish automatic grade equivalence or product approval.

Intergranular-Corrosion Test References

Stabilization does not remove the need to define grade, heat treatment, fabrication condition, sample preparation and the exact governing acceptance route.
