ASTM B444-23 — Nickel-Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tube

Procurement reference for cold-worked seamless pipe and tube in the nickel-alloy families specified by ASTM B444.

Edition control: ASTM B444-23 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM catalogue checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and purchase-order requirements before use.

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B444 covers specified nickel-chromium-molybdenum-niobium and nickel-chromium-molybdenum-silicon alloys in cold-worked seamless pipe and tube. The order must state the exact UNS alloy and its specified condition.

RFQ and Product Controls

  • Exact UNS alloy and ASTM B444-23 edition
  • Pipe or tube form, cold-worked route and applicable grade or solution-annealed condition
  • Nominal size or outside diameter, wall basis, wall thickness, length, ends and tolerances
  • Surface finish, straightness and cleanliness requirements
  • Chemical and room-temperature mechanical requirements
  • Hydrostatic and nondestructive electric examination route, plus supplementary tests
  • Inspection-document type, heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B444 is not a universal Alloy 625 approval and does not cover plate, sheet, strip, rod, bar, wire, forgings or welded tubulars. Shared UNS designations across standards do not make product conditions interchangeable.
