ASTM B165-26 — Nickel-Copper Seamless Pipe and Tube

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B165 covers UNS N04400 nickel-copper alloy in cold-worked seamless pipe and tube. A hot-worked route may be available when its properties and tolerances are agreed between manufacturer and purchaser.

RFQ and Product Controls

• UNS N04400 and ASTM B165-26 edition
• Pipe or tube form and cold-worked or agreed hot-worked route
• Nominal pipe size or tube outside diameter, wall basis, wall thickness and length
• Condition, finish, straightness, ends and dimensional tolerances
• Chemical and mechanical requirements applicable to the order
• Hydrostatic or nondestructive electric testing and any supplementary examination
• Inspection-document type, heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B165 applies to seamless pipe and tube. It does not cover plate, sheet, strip, rod, bar, wire, fittings or copper-nickel grades, and it does not make another nickel-copper designation automatically equivalent to UNS N04400.
