ASTM A320/A320M-26 — Low-Temperature Bolting
Procurement reference for alloy-steel and stainless bolting used with pressure vessels, valves, flanges and fittings in low-temperature service.
Edition control: ASTM A320/A320M-26 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM catalogue checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and order requirements before use.
Scope in Procurement
ASTM A320/A320M covers specified alloy-steel and stainless bolting materials and components for low-temperature pressure-equipment service, with grade selection linked to mechanical properties and impact-test requirements.
RFQ and Bolting Controls
- Exact bolting component, dimensions, thread and nominal size
- ASTM A320 grade, class and manufacturing condition
- Minimum design temperature and governing equipment code
- Impact-test temperature and required energy criteria from the order
- Compatible nut specification, grade and class
- Coating, marking, packaging and supplementary requirements
- Finished-lot test traceability and inspection documents
A raw-material or semi-finished-product certificate alone does not establish compliance of the finished bolting component. Traceability must continue through manufacture, testing, marking and the released lot.
Scope Boundary
Low-temperature suitability cannot be inferred from alloy name alone. Grade, class, diameter, heat treatment, impact-test temperature, test result and mating nut must all match the governing order.
