ASTM A194/A194M covers specified carbon, alloy and stainless steel nuts intended for high-pressure or high-temperature service, or both, and requires selection of the correct grade, class and mating bolting route.

- ASTM A194 grade, class and heat treatment
- Mating bolting specification, grade and class
- Service temperature, pressure and governing equipment code
- Proof, hardness, chemistry and supplementary tests

- Finished-lot traceability and inspection documents
A raw-material or semi-finished-product certificate alone does not establish compliance of the finished bolting component. Traceability must continue through manufacture, testing, marking and the released lot.
Scope Boundary
A matching material name does not prove assembly compatibility. The selected nut must be checked against the exact bolt or stud, required loads, service temperature, thread fit and governing project documents.
