ASTM G28-24 — Intergranular Corrosion in Nickel-Rich Alloys

Procurement reference for tests of intergranular-corrosion susceptibility in specified wrought nickel-rich chromium-bearing alloys.

Edition control: ASTM G28-24 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM record checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and order requirements before use.

Scope in Procurement

ASTM G28-24 covers test methods for detecting susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in specified wrought nickel-rich chromium-bearing alloys and applicable weldments, as influenced by processing or composition.

RFQ and Test Controls

  • Exact UNS alloy and confirmation that it is covered by the selected method
  • Wrought product or weldment condition; cast products require another route
  • As-received, heat-treated or fabrication condition to be evaluated
  • Sampling location, surface preparation and traceability
  • Selected ASTM G28 method and test condition
  • Measurement, reporting and acceptance criteria from governing documents
  • Correlation limits between laboratory result and intended service

The inquiry and purchase order should link the test result to the exact material, product condition, sample identity and governing acceptance requirement.

Scope Boundary

ASTM G28 is not a universal test for all nickel alloys or cast products. Susceptibility in the laboratory does not by itself establish performance in another environment.
