Scope

What This Standard Covers

ASTM B575-17(2023) covers flat products in multiple low-carbon nickel-chromium-molybdenum and related alloy families intended for general corrosive service.

The specification distinguishes plate from sheet and strip and addresses ordered condition, composition, mechanical properties, grain-size requirements where applicable and dimensional requirements.

Covered materials

Alloys, Conditions and Product Forms

Only the UNS numbers listed by the governing edition are within scope. Commercial alloy names must be checked against the requested UNS designation.

  • UNS N10276, N06022, N06035, N06044, N06455, N06058 and N06059;
  • UNS N06200 nickel-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloy;
  • UNS N10362 nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy;
  • UNS N06210 tantalum-containing alloy and UNS N06686 tungsten-containing alloy;
  • sheet and strip are ordered hot- or cold-rolled and solution annealed; plate is hot- or cold-rolled, solution annealed and descaled, subject to the standard.

Inquiry preparation

Ordering and Verification Points

Prepare the inquiry against the governing project specification. State:

  • the full ASTM designation and required edition;
  • the exact UNS number and ordered heat-treatment or product condition;
  • product form, dimensions, tolerances, surface requirements and quantity;
  • inspection-document type, tests, supplementary requirements and acceptance criteria;
  • drawing references, packing instructions and delivery destination.

Cross-reference

Relationship to Other Standards

ASTM B574 addresses rod and bar for related alloy families. Other ASTM specifications govern pipe, tube, forgings or welding products; the flat-product designation must not be applied to those forms.

Shared commercial names do not establish equivalence. Any comparison with EN, ISO, DIN, manufacturer grades or project specifications must be verified from governing technical documents and certificates.
