ASTM B516-24 — Welded Nickel-Alloy Tubes
Procurement reference for welded nickel-chromium-aluminum and nickel-chromium-iron alloy tubes under ASTM B516.
Edition control: ASTM B516-24 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM catalogue checked on 1 September 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and purchase-order requirements before use.
Scope in Procurement
ASTM B516 covers welded boiler, heat-exchanger and condenser tubes in the specified UNS N06600, N06601, N06603, N06025, N06045, N06690, N06693 and N06699 alloy routes for general corrosion resistance and low- or high-temperature service.
RFQ and Product Controls
- Exact UNS alloy and ASTM B516-24 edition
- Boiler, heat-exchanger or condenser duty and governing equipment specification
- Outside diameter, wall thickness, length and dimensional tolerances
- Automatic welding, cold work, final annealing and surface condition
- Chemical and mechanical requirements for the selected alloy and condition
- Flattening, flanging and required leak or electric examination route
- ASTM B751 requirements, inspection document, traceability, marking and destination
The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, welding, heat treatment, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.
Scope Boundary
ASTM B516 does not cover pipe or seamless tube and does not make its listed UNS grades interchangeable. Service temperature, corrosion medium, equipment design and fabrication controls must be reviewed independently.
