Scope in Procurement

ASTM B407 covers specified nickel-iron-chromium alloy families in seamless pipe and tube. The applicable manufacture route, condition and mechanical requirements depend on the exact UNS designation.

RFQ and Product Controls

• Exact UNS alloy and ASTM B407-22 edition
• Pipe or tube form, manufacturing route and required condition
• Nominal size or outside diameter, wall basis, wall thickness, length and tolerances
• Heat treatment, finish, straightness and end preparation
• Chemical and mechanical requirements for the selected alloy route
• Hydrostatic or nondestructive examination and any supplementary tests
• Inspection-document type, heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B407 is a material and product-form specification. It does not by itself establish suitability for a furnace, pressure system, corrosive medium or fabricated component; design code and service conditions remain governing inputs.
