• Mechanical tubing or hollow-bar designation and finished-component drawing
• Outside and inside dimensions or wall basis, length, machining allowance and tolerances
• Cold-finished or hot-finished seamless route and final condition
• Chemical, mechanical and hardness requirements for the selected alloy
• Nondestructive examination, straightness, surface and supplementary requirements
• Inspection document, heat-and-lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, seamless processing, heat treatment, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B1020/B1020M is a mechanical-tubing and hollow-bar route, not a pressure-pipe specification or finished-component design standard. Alloy selection, pressure-code compliance, machining plan and final-part inspection remain separate requirements.
