ASTM B167-23 — Nickel-Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tube

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B167 covers defined nickel-chromium-aluminum, nickel-chromium-iron and other listed nickel-alloy families in seamless pipe and tube for general corrosion- and heat-resistant applications. The exact UNS designation and manufacture condition govern the order.

RFQ and Product Controls

• Exact UNS alloy and ASTM B167-23 edition
• Pipe or tube form and required cold-worked, hot-worked or hot-finished route
• Annealed or other specified condition for the selected alloy
• Diameter or nominal size, wall basis, wall thickness, length, ends and tolerances
• Chemical and room-temperature mechanical requirements
• Hydrostatic or nondestructive electric examination and supplementary tests
• Inspection-document type, heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B167 is not a generic certificate for every nickel alloy or every temperature duty. Alloy selection, maximum design temperature, pressure code, oxidation or corrosion environment and any post-fabrication heat treatment require separate engineering confirmation.
