Scope in Procurement
- ISO 18274:2023 specifies classification requirements for solid wire electrodes, solid strip electrodes, solid wires and solid rods used for fusion welding of nickel and nickel alloys.
- Classification is based on chemical composition and covers compositions in which nickel exceeds every other element. The document states that its principles can also be applied to metal powders for cladding, hard facing and additive manufacturing.
- The ISO classification does not establish automatic approval for a base alloy, dissimilar joint or service. Manufacturer data, the approved WPS and project requirements remain controlling.
