Scope in Procurement
- ISO 14343:2025 specifies classification requirements for wire electrodes, strip electrodes, wires and rods used in arc and related welding processes for stainless and heat-resisting steels.
- Classification is based on chemical composition and the document provides System A, based on nominal composition, and System B, based on alloy type. The system suffix must be preserved when specified.
- A consumable classification does not by itself approve a filler for a base material, joint or service. The WPS, project documents, class or OEM requirements and manufacturer data remain controlling.

Edition control: the purchase order, approved specification, manufacturer documentation and current authorised ISO publication govern the supply. A classification or material name alone does not prove compliance or application approval.
