Material and Classification Identity
- ESAB OK Autrod 5356 lists AWS A5.10 ER5356 and EN ISO 18273 S Al 5356 (AlMg5Cr(A)).
- AWS and EN ISO classifications are technical identifiers; they do not prove that every manufacturer, diameter, package or approval is available together.
- A matching commercial name does not authorize substitution. The customer specification and approved welding procedure remain controlling.

Application Context
ER5356 belongs to the aluminium-magnesium filler family. Application suitability cannot be determined from the filler designation alone. Base-alloy grade and temper, joint geometry, required strength, corrosion exposure, service temperature, anodising requirements and welding procedure must be reviewed before quotation. ESAB warns of stress-corrosion cracking susceptibility when 5xxx base alloys are welded with OK Autrod 5356, the weld-pool Mg content is >3 %, and service temperature is >65 °C. This conditional warning is not a complete temperature rating or approval for other conditions. ESAB product description (undated). Source checked: 19 October 2026.
