PURE MOLYBDENUM MILL PRODUCTS & COMPONENTS
Pure Molybdenum — Technical Sourcing
Global sourcing for pure molybdenum foil, sheet, plate, rod, bar, wire and parts manufactured to drawing.
MNK-G.S.A coordinates supply against the required production route, ASTM grade where applicable, product form, dimensions, condition, inspection documents and destination. Pure molybdenum is kept separate from TZM, MoLa and other molybdenum alloys.
Specify the Product Form and Production Route
Unalloyed molybdenum can be produced by powder metallurgy or vacuum arc melting and converted into flat products, long products or custom components. The same word “molybdenum” does not define the grade, route, condition, surface finish or inspection scope, so these parameters are established before quotation.
Material Definition and Supply Scope
Flat Products
Foil, sheet, strip, ribbon and plate sourced by thickness, width, length, surface condition and required rolling or heat-treatment condition.
Rod, Bar and Wire
Swaged, forged, rolled, drawn or ground products sourced by diameter, length, straightness, surface condition and tolerance.
Machined Components
Discs, rings, crucibles, furnace parts, electrodes, targets and other components reviewed against drawing, starting stock, tolerances and inspection.
ASTM Grades 360 / 361 / 365
ASTM B386/B386M and B387/B387M distinguish vacuum arc-cast, powder-metallurgy and low-carbon vacuum arc-cast unalloyed molybdenum. The correct grade is selected from the governing specification.
Isotropic Pure Molybdenum
ASTM B1024/B1024M covers Grades 1 and 2 of unalloyed monolithic isotropic molybdenum. It is applied only when explicitly required by the customer or design.
Special Conditions
Stress-relieved, recrystallized, drawing-grade, low-carbon and application-specific conditions require explicit confirmation and cannot be inferred from chemistry alone.
Published size examples by source
These are source-specific catalogue examples, not global minimum and maximum limits, MNK stock or a promise of current availability. Confirm the complete dimensions, material condition, quantity and inspection requirements before ordering.
| Product Form | Source-specific example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Wire | Elmet heating-element wire: Ø0.0254–6.35 mm | Listed in the Molybdenum Wire section of Elmet’s combined wire page. This application programme does not establish every diameter as compliant with ASTM B387/B387M. |
| Rod / Bar | S-T catalogue examples: selected Ø5–50 mm | Listed lengths depend on diameter; see the combinations below. The selected catalogue rows are not the full market range or a 3000 mm length guarantee for every diameter. |
| Foil / Sheet / Plate / Strip | Edgetech sheet examples: 0.1–4.75 mm thick | Width and length change with thickness as shown below. The separate Goodfellow 0.001 mm foil example is a small-format, 99.9 % Mo catalogue item, not a large-sheet capability. |
| Custom Parts | According to drawing | Manufacturing feasibility and inspection route are confirmed individually. |
Do not combine the thinnest product, maximum width and maximum length as one guaranteed item.
Actual availability depends on grade, specification, quantity, tolerances, certification requirements and manufacturing source. Diameter, thickness, width and length must be confirmed as one complete combination.
Examples of Thickness-Dependent Sheet Formats
Source: Edgetech, Molybdenum Sheet, checked 15 September 2026; no revision date shown. These selected thickness/width/length combinations support inquiry preparation. Grade, surface, tolerances and delivery condition require confirmation.
| Thickness band | Example width × length | Ordering note |
|---|---|---|
| 0.1–0.15 mm | 300 mm × 1000 mm | Thin sheet; confirm handling, flatness and edge condition. |
| 0.2–0.5 mm | 650 mm × 2540 mm | Published rolled-sheet format; complete dimensions remain source-dependent. |
| 0.5–1 mm | 600 mm × 2400 mm | Specify the required finish and rolling or annealing condition. |
| 1–4.75 mm | 600 mm × 2000 mm | Specify full sheets or cut blanks and any machining allowance. |
Ultrathin foil: Goodfellow’s January 2020 catalogue lists MO000080, 0.001 mm, 99.9 % Mo, in sizes from 25 mm × 25 mm to 50 mm × 50 mm. This dated example does not prove current stock, 99.95% purity, pinhole-free quality or large-sheet availability. Specify those requirements separately.
Examples of Diameter-Dependent Rod Lengths
Source: S-T (s-t.com.tw), molybdenum product page, checked 15 September 2026; no revision date shown. The following listed diameters and length options are catalogue examples, not MNK stock. Confirm grade, condition, surface and tolerances for the order.
| Listed Rod Diameters | Published Length Options |
|---|---|
| Ø5 mm, Ø6 mm and Ø8 mm | 1000 mm, 2000 mm or 3000 mm |
| Ø10 mm, Ø12 mm, Ø15 mm and Ø20 mm | 1000 mm, 1500 mm or 2000 mm |
| Ø30 mm, Ø40 mm and Ø50 mm | 1000 mm or 1500 mm |
Other diameters and lengths are reviewed individually. The 3000 mm example does not apply automatically to the largest diameter in the overall sourcing range. Specify the finished length, cutting tolerance and any machining allowance; these examples do not establish the same dimensions for TZM or MoLa.

European inspection-document framework for metallic products. When requested, the required document type, such as 3.1 or 3.2, is stated in the inquiry and confirmed with the manufacturer.
EN / DIN Product Equivalence
No EN or DIN product designation is assumed to be equivalent to an ASTM molybdenum grade. A customer-specified European or national standard is checked by exact number, edition and product-form scope.
Reference Physical and Mechanical Properties
Density
Elmet’s physical/mechanical reference sheet lists 10.22 g/cm³; the density measurement temperature is not stated. This is reference data, not a lot acceptance limit.
Melting Point
Elmet’s reference sheet lists 2610 °C. A melting point is not a maximum operating temperature; atmosphere, loading and service conditions require separate review.
Specific Heat
Specific heat at 20 °C: 270 J/(kg·K) Mo; Elmet Technologies. Elmet reference value at 20 °C; use temperature- and material-condition-appropriate data for design. Sources, dates and limits
Sources checked on 15 September 2026. This is the review date, not the publication date of every document. Public references support technical discussion; they do not establish a partnership, stock, delivery promise or certification of an ordered part.
- Elmet: physical and mechanical properties (PDF)
Reference basis for the Mo property values above. “2017” appears in the file name; no printed revision date is specified. Temperatures and conversions are stated with each value. These six property references were checked again on 23 September 2026.
- Edgetech: molybdenum sheet dimensions
Selected thickness/width/length rows only; no revision date shown. The page also discusses alloy products, so the actual material and specification must be agreed.
Sheet-format examples rechecked on 15 October 2026 and linked to the shared technical registry. Width and length are nominal catalogue dimensions, not guaranteed acceptance limits. Adjacent source rows are grouped only where both dimensions match; tolerances, material and condition must be agreed.
- S-T: molybdenum rod catalogue combinations
Diameter-dependent length options; no revision date shown. A catalogue row is not evidence of MNK stock or identical TZM/MoLa capabilities.
The selected rod combinations were rechecked on 15 October 2026 and linked to the shared registry. Length options stay with their corresponding diameter group; no other combinations or current stock are implied.
- Goodfellow: January 2020 catalogue, MO000080 (PDF)
Historical small-format foil example, not a current-stock check. 0.001 mm, 99.9 % Mo and the listed small formats must remain together.
