ISO 3369:2006 — Hardmetal Density Determination
Procurement reference for density testing of impermeable sintered metal materials and hardmetals.
Edition control: Published, Edition 2 (November 2006); last reviewed and confirmed in 2025. This original MNK-G.S.A summary does not reproduce or replace the protected ISO publication. Confirm the current authorised edition and governing order documents before use.
Scope in Procurement
ISO 3369:2006 provides the density-determination route used for impermeable sintered metal materials and hardmetals.
Density can support grade and process verification, but it does not establish chemistry, binder content, grain size, porosity class or mechanical performance by itself.
The ordered requirement should identify the grade, batch, specimen condition, test report and any customer-defined acceptance range.
| Property | Density |
| Material context | Impermeable sintered metal materials and hardmetals |
| Procurement role | Measured-property and batch-document control |
| Scope boundary | Density alone does not prove composition, equivalence or fitness for service |
Where This Standard Fits
- Hardmetal certificate and batch review
- Checking measured density against an agreed specification
- Supporting investigation of grade or process variation
- Coordinating laboratory evidence with chemistry and microstructure data
Ordering and Document Controls
- Exact standard edition and material designation
- Heat, batch or lot identity
- Specimen condition and preparation
- Test conditions and equipment traceability
- Reported value, units and agreed acceptance range
- Companion chemistry, hardness and microstructure requirements
