ASTM E21-20 — Elevated-Temperature Tension Testing
Procurement reference for tension testing of metallic materials at elevated temperature.
Edition control: Active. Confirm the current authorised edition and the governing product or order specification before use. This original MNK-G.S.A summary does not reproduce or replace the protected ASTM publication.
Scope in Procurement
ASTM E21-20 covers procedure and equipment for determining tensile and ductility properties of metallic materials at elevated temperature.
The inquiry must distinguish an elevated-temperature tension test from creep, stress-rupture, rapid-heating or rapid-strain-rate tests.
The governing material or product specification controls the required temperature, specimen, sampling and acceptance values.
Scope Boundary
The method does not by itself establish long-term service strength, creep life, allowable stress or suitability for a furnace, turbine or pressure component.
Ordering and Test-Report Controls
