ASTM B751-21 — General Requirements for Welded Nickel-Alloy Tube

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B751 supplies general requirements for the longitudinally welded nickel and nickel-alloy tube product specifications named in its scope. The applicable product specification remains the primary material route.

RFQ and Product Controls

• Exact welded-tube product specification and edition used with ASTM B751-21
• Alloy, tube duty, manufacturing condition and heat-treatment requirements
• Outside diameter, wall basis, wall thickness, length and dimensional tolerances
• Testing, retest, inspection, workmanship, marking and packaging requirements
• Any optional tests or supplementary requirements activated by the purchase order
• Inspection-document type and purchaser or third-party witness points
• Heat and lot traceability through release and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, welding, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B751 is not a stand-alone material specification. It cannot replace B626, B704 or another listed welded-tube product standard; where requirements conflict, the product specification governs as defined by the standards system.
