ASTM B423-22 — Nickel-Alloy Seamless Pipe and Tube

Procurement reference for specified nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper seamless pipe and tube.

Edition control: ASTM B423-22 is the active edition identified in the official ASTM catalogue checked on 31 August 2026. Confirm the authorised publication and purchase-order requirements before use.

Scope in Procurement

ASTM B423 covers UNS N08825 and N08221 nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum-copper alloys in cold-worked and hot-finished seamless pipe and tube intended for general corrosive service.

RFQ and Product Controls

  • Exact UNS N08825 or N08221 designation and ASTM B423-22 edition
  • Pipe or tube form and cold-worked or hot-finished route
  • Required condition, heat treatment and surface finish
  • Nominal size or outside diameter, wall basis, wall thickness, length, ends and tolerances
  • Chemical and mechanical requirements applicable to the selected route
  • Hydrostatic or nondestructive electric testing and supplementary examinations
  • Inspection-document type, heat and lot traceability, marking, packaging and destination

The material identity must remain traceable from the producing heat and lot through manufacture, testing, inspection documentation, marking and final release.

Scope Boundary

ASTM B423 does not guarantee universal resistance to a corrosive medium. Concentration, temperature, contaminants, velocity, fabrication, weld procedure and equipment design must be evaluated for the actual service.
