ASTM A1082/A1082M covers specified precipitation-hardening and duplex stainless bolting materials and components for special-purpose service. Selection depends on design, service environment, mechanical requirements and the exact product route.
Standards Relationship
Starting bars are produced through the applicable ASTM stainless bar route, while the finished fasteners are manufactured and released to ASTM A1082/A1082M together with ASTM A962/A962M requirements.

- PH or duplex stainless grade, class, product form and dimensions
- Finished fastener type, thread, tolerance and mating component
- Pressure-vessel or other special-purpose service conditions
- Heat treatment, mechanical properties and corrosion-related project requirements
- Applicable starting-bar specification and finished-component manufacturing route
- Supplementary requirements, marking, coating and packaging
- Heat, lot and finished-component traceability with inspection documents
A raw-material or semi-finished-product certificate alone does not establish compliance of the finished bolting component. Traceability must continue through manufacture, testing, marking and the released lot.
Scope Boundary
A bar certificate to ASTM A276/A276M, A479/A479M or A564/A564M does not by itself establish ASTM A1082/A1082M compliance of a finished fastener. Manufacture, testing, marking and release must follow the bolting route.
