Scope in Procurement
ISO 28079:2026 defines an indentation method for determining Palmqvist toughness in metal-bonded carbide and carbonitride materials, including hardmetals, cemented carbides and cermets.
The result is derived from cracking associated with a Vickers hardness indentation and is intended primarily for ordinary laboratory-air conditions at ambient temperature.
Higher or lower test temperatures may be agreed; corrosive environments remain outside this method. Link each result to specimen preparation, load, crack measurements and a traceable report.
