ASTM F468 covers specified commercial wrought nonferrous bolts, cap screws, socket head cap screws and studs in inch sizes for general-use applications.
RFQ and Finished-Fastener Controls
- Exact finished-fastener type and head geometry
- Inch thread, nominal size, length and dimensional standard
- Covered nonferrous alloy and required condition
- Manufacturing route and surface finish
- Chemical and mechanical finished-product tests
- Compatible ASTM F467 nut and joint requirements
- Marking, lot identity and inspection documentation
A raw-material certificate does not establish finished-fastener compliance. The report must trace the finished lot, tests and marking to the exact standard and order.
Scope Boundary
ASTM F468 does not cover every nonferrous alloy, metric route or special application. A certificate for feedstock does not prove that the finished fastener meets ASTM F468.
