Scope in Procurement
ASTM B777-15(2026) establishes four classes of machinable high-density tungsten-base material produced by consolidating metal-powder mixtures.
The specification can be used for bare or coated material and supports applications such as balancing, rotating inertia, shielding and vibration control, subject to the selected class and order requirements.
Standard lot properties are based on coupons rather than every location in a finished part. Large sections, magnetic-response requirements and critical components can require additional part-specific testing stated in the purchase order.
