Scope in Procurement
ISO 4499-1:2020 supports metallographic description of hardmetal microstructure through reference photomicrographs and defined descriptive practice.
It helps create a common reporting language, but it does not replace the other ISO 4499 parts used for grain-size measurement, complex carbide phases or porosity and carbon-related defects.
Microstructure acceptance must be tied to the exact material route, sampling plan, preparation method, magnification and governing purchase specification.
